IATA has reported that airlines have downgraded their projections for passenger traffic and profits for 2025, citing significant economic obstacles. “Given these challenges, the results indicate a strong performance that reflects the resilience airlines have diligently developed,” remarked Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA, during their annual meeting in New Delhi.

Traffic and Profit Forecasts Adjusted Downward

Airlines revealed on Monday that they have reduced their forecasts for traffic and profit estimates for the year 2025 due to anticipated “headwinds” affecting the global economy.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicts that fewer than five billion air travels will occur in 2025, a decrease from the earlier estimate of 5.22 billion journeys.

“Taking these headwinds into account, we see a result that showcases the hard-earned resilience of the airline industry,” declared Willie Walsh at the organization’s annual general meeting, held in New Delhi.
