Boeing achieved a remarkable feat by securing 303 new aircraft orders in May 2025, making it the sixth-best month in the company’s order history.
This figure signifies a substantial surge from merely eight orders placed in April 2025. In contrast, Airbus experienced a notable decline in orders during the same month, totaling only 11 orders.
Boeing’s orders and deliveries report highlights that the 303 aircraft ordered in May 2025 included 119 units of the 737 MAX, 75 of the 787-10, 45 of the 787-9, 30 of the 777X, 20 additional 737 MAX, and seven units each of the 787-9 and 737 MAX.
On the other hand, its European competitor, Airbus did not register any new orders during this timeframe, possibly delaying announcements ahead of the upcoming event at the International Paris Air Show.
The orders placed in May 2025 signify a crucial milestone for Boeing, especially following the announcement to raise its monthly production rate of the 737 MAX series from 38 to 42 units by mid-2025.
Nonetheless, Boeing continues to grapple with a substantial backlog of 6,537 unfilled orders as of May 2025, attributed to ongoing production limitations and persistent challenges within the supply chain.
As of early June 2025, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not yet lifted the production cap of 38 aircraft per month on Boeing’s 737 MAX models, a limit imposed following the Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 incident in January 2024.
In terms of deliveries, Boeing transferred 45 new aircraft in May 2025, which is six fewer than Airbus, which managed to deliver 51 aircraft to 32 different customers during that month.
Thus far in 2025, Boeing has successfully delivered 220 new aircraft to its clients, comprising 167 units of the 737, 28 of the 787, 16 of the 777, and nine of the 767. Meanwhile, Airbus has delivered 243 new aircraft to a total of 61 customers globally.
