easyJet Flight Diverted After Passenger Claims Bomb Onboard

MANCHESTER- An easyJet (U2) flight from Dalaman (DLM), Turkey to Manchester (MAN), UK was compelled to make an emergency landing after a female passenger allegedly instigated a mid-air disturbance by claiming there was a bomb onboard.

EasyJet Flight U2 2148 was diverted to Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Germany, on May 24, after the woman reportedly attempted to tamper with the emergency exit door, which resulted in panic among both passengers and crew.

An EasyJet (U2) flight U2 2148 departed Dalaman Airport around 11:00 PM local time heading for Manchester (MAN).

Approximately an hour into the journey, a female passenger allegedly began running down the aisle, shouting about a bomb and claiming that the plane was “going down.”

Her behavior escalated further when she reportedly tore off the emergency door handle cover and tried to open the exit door mid-flight.

Witnesses stated that other passengers quickly intervened, restraining the woman and preventing her from reaching the exit door.

Cabin crew subsequently secured her at the back of the aircraft and alerted passengers to the need for an emergency diversion.

The aircraft safely landed at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) at approximately 2:30 a.m. local time, where the disruptive passenger was handed over to local law enforcement upon arrival.

This incident was first reported by the Manchester Evening News, which underscored the seriousness of in-flight safety threats and the swift actions taken by both passengers and crew.

Overnight Delay in Frankfurt

As a result of the emergency landing, passengers encountered additional delays due to Frankfurt Airport’s overnight curfew regulations.

With limited ground support available, many passengers remained onboard the aircraft longer than anticipated before disembarkation.

EasyJet indicated that the unforeseen delay was unavoidable, citing limited hotel accommodations.

Passengers received refreshment vouchers, and some were required to wait in the terminal until onward travel arrangements were arranged.

The flight eventually resumed its journey to Manchester, arriving on the afternoon of May 25 at around 1:40 PM.

EasyJet’s Response

In an official statement, EasyJet underscored that its cabin crew are well-trained to handle onboard disruptions and prioritize the safety of passengers at all times.

The airline reiterated that any disruptive or threatening behavior is strictly condemned.

“EasyJet’s highest priority is the safety and well-being of its customers and crew,” stated a spokesperson.

“While such incidents are infrequent, we treat them with the utmost seriousness, collaborating closely with relevant authorities to handle the situation effectively.”

Passengers commended the crew and fellow travelers who played a role in de-escalating the situation and ensuring a safe landing without further complications.
