Enhancements in Security at FBO RIGA Business Aviation Center
The FBO RIGA business aviation center located at Riga International Airport in Latvia has implemented advanced Liquid Explosive Detection (LED) and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) systems. These upgrades are designed for the thorough preflight screening of baggage, hold luggage, and passengers’ personal items, adhering to Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 established on November 5, 2015, which outlines comprehensive measures for aviation security standards.
FBO RIGA remains committed to enhancing its infrastructure and services, ensuring compliance with current aviation standards while improving passenger comfort. The introduction of new security technology eliminates the necessity for previously mandated alternative security measures that required passengers to be physically present for baggage screenings. FBO RIGA proudly stands as the first and only fixed-base operator (FBO) in Latvia to possess these advanced detection systems.
“Our dedication to superior service and our capability to promptly address customer concerns are hallmarks of FBO RIGA. We are making significant investments in our infrastructure to deliver exceptional ground handling services. The integration of this cutting-edge security technology will streamline preflight inspection processes, making them quicker and more convenient for travelers,” stated Roman Starkov, co-owner of FBO RIGA.
“In the past, special permissions were necessary for alternative security measures regarding preflight screening of both passengers and their luggage. With our current capabilities, we can conduct security screenings at FBO RIGA without requiring passengers to be present during baggage inspections. I believe our customers and partners will greatly value this improvement,” remarked Leonid Gorodnitski, co-owner of FBO RIGA.
In 2019, FBO RIGA achieved IS-BAH Stage II accreditation, affirming that the center meets all safety requirements for business aviation and often surpasses the standards outlined in mandatory regulations. This certification makes FBO RIGA the only entity in the Baltic States to hold such an accolade.
