SINGAPORE- Recognized as the World’s Best Carrier, Singapore Airlines (SQ) has announced updates to its flight schedule for the Northern Winter 2025-26, which includes aircraft changes, route suspensions, and frequency adjustments to various destinations.
These updates will take effect from late October 2025 through early March 2026 and are designed to enhance fleet utilization while addressing seasonal travel demand.
Significant route modifications will impact cities such as Auckland (AKL), Frankfurt (FRA), London Heathrow (LHR), and Seoul Incheon (ICN), with several long-haul services scheduled for aircraft upgrades or downgrades.
As reported by Aeroroutes, these changes are part of Singapore Airlines’ ongoing strategy to refine its global network for the winter 2025-26.
For the Northern Winter 2025-26 timeframe, Singapore Airlines is strategically adjusting its operations to align with anticipated travel trends.
Starting on 18 January 2026, the Singapore–Auckland (AKL) route will see its SQ285/286 service upgraded to the Airbus A380, complementing the daily A350 and 777-300ER flights on this route, thereby enhancing capacity on a busy long-haul route.
The direct Singapore–Barcelona (BCN) service will be temporarily suspended from 3 February 2026 to 5 March 2026. However, passengers will still have connectivity to Barcelona through the Singapore (SIN) – Milan Malpensa (MXP) – Barcelona (BCN) route, which will be increased from 3 to 5 weekly flights using the A350-900.
In Europe, key updates will occur in Frankfurt (FRA), where the number of nonstop services will increase from 7 to 13 weekly, starting 18 January 2026. These flights will be operated using the A350-900, while the SQ326/325 services will transition from the A380 to the 777-300ER.
Both London Heathrow (LHR) and Milan Malpensa (MXP) will also experience service reductions during February and March.
Aircraft Swaps and Suspensions
In its regional operations, Singapore Airlines is implementing changes in aircraft types and temporary suspensions to optimize operational efficiency.
Beginning 26 October 2025, A350-900 aircraft will replace the planned 787-10 on the Singapore–Denpasar (DPS) and Singapore–Kuala Lumpur (KUL) routes. Similar replacements will occur for services to Hong Kong (HKG) and Manila (MNL).
A few routes to South Korea will see temporary suspensions, including the SQ612/611 to Seoul Incheon (ICN) from 12 January to 8 February 2026, and the SQ606/605 will be paused from 23 February to 13 March 2026, cutting frequencies from four to three daily.
The Singapore–Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) route’s seasonal SQ872/873 service will recommence from 2 February 2026, featuring four weekly A350-900 flights, increasing total weekly services from 14 to 18.
In Japan, seasonal services to Sapporo (CTS) will restart from 30 November 2025, peaking at seven weekly flights by the end of the year.
International and Regional Route Optimizations
Singapore Airlines will utilize the A380 on the Singapore–Shanghai Pudong (PVG) route from 1 February 2026, taking over from the 777-300ER to accommodate greater demand.
Additionally, service to Christchurch (CHC) will increase to 11 weekly flights during the peak season from 24 November 2025 to 13 February 2026.
Meanwhile, the Singapore–Beijing Daxing (PKX) route will be suspended from 5 January to 1 February 2026, and select flights to Beijing Capital (PEK) will be canceled in late 2025.
Frequency to Busan (PUS) will increase from four to six weekly starting 28 October 2025, eventually rising to daily services from 1 February 2026.
In South Asia, Colombo (CMB) flights will increase to 10 weekly starting 6 January 2026, utilizing the A350-900 to meet growing demand in this market.
